Salmon Safe is the encouragement of the adaption of ecologically sustainable agricultural practices that protect water quality and spawning grounds of native salmon and trout.

David uses natural locations for his fish, he uses large trees with roots around his spawns in order to keep the banks solid even during the spring and reduces erosion, the trees even create shade which reduces the temperature during the summer. The trees also keep the sediment from rising in the water keeping the water cool, clear and calm which is ideal for salmon and trout.

David also has vineyards which he uses minimal ORGANICALLY ACCEPTABLE spray to the grapes when needed. Uses NON-LETHAL scare tactics to discourage birds and wildlife from eating the grapes during harvest.

I think this is great because it created non Hormonal food. The fish are kept in natural environment rather than tanks and troughs. The land is altered only in the benefit of the surrounding and the fish.

The foraging of foods which grow in the wild without cultivation or human assistance.

You collect wild seasonal foods for restaurant chefs across north america. So for example, this process would involve the cultivation of hand picking kelp before the tide rises. Bull kelp grows all along the pacific coast, from southern California to Canada. It grows year round but the healthiest kelps are found in spring and summer.

Wild harvesting is beneficial because again there would be no hormones in your food. But the quality of land that you retrieve your foods from would be the only thing that affects it. The only problem about farming by hand is the rate of production is a lot lower. And I feel the less product have the more expensive it would have to be in order to make up for labor and time.
