The good news Economist:

The cover of the edition we will be releasing

A new edition of the popular news magazine The Economist, but with a twist:  instead of reporting the actual news, this edition will cover hypothetical stories that could happen with some changes to government policy or societal norms.

The modified version of the website

The actual website: economist.com

This is a two part project: the first is a physical copy of the fake magazine distributed on campus.  The second part is a website, a clone of economist.com that has the same stories as the magazine; this will be distributed using stickers displaying the url posted around the Bangor area.  Both platforms will have a portion that is dedicated to a statement about what the project is, as well as a collection of resources to help bring the stories about:  Contact information for representatives, tips and tricks for organizing protests, etc.  Because that is the goal of this project- to release a magazine full of stories of things that could be reality if there were some changes in our government and society.

The budget for this project is variable, depending on the scope.

Web domain: about $10/year

Printing the magazine: ~ $.30/page so easily $50

Printing the stickers: ~$25 for a set of stickers.

Total estimate:  ~$85 for the entire project
