Lost In Time & Mind
Time passes and memories fade human minds forget details digital versions don’t forget. But they can also forget with time just like us.
This project is the digital version of the mind. The ideals we hold are formed from our past, but as we get older our memories of the event that formed us fade. The best way to think of it is like a tree when you are young and someone carves something in the bark it takes up a lot of the trees survice. But in time the tree grows and the carving is smaller and less important but never the less it still their part of the tree. This is making a digital copy of that process, Growing takes time but with the processes, I used you can make time pass by pressing the post button and that is what I did. I noticed to post on Instagram they must be some kind of compression of the files and being a new media major I know compression means loss and I wanted to explore that loss of detail/memory. The process is taking an image and posting it screenshoting that post cropping it and reposting it and here are the results.

Above is a link to an Instagram that I created to expedite the process. Due to the time, it would take to do each step of degradation with a vhs I did it with digital images.
