My project is a free app that takes a photo 1 out of 5 times the phone is unlocked. These photos are then set as your profile pictures for social media, until the next photo is taken.
A huge contributor to ones sense of self is no doubt their physical appearance, especially facial appearance. People will go to great lengths to make sure their physical appearance is up to par, specifically in photographs. The project that I am proposing will insight just the opposite. It will aim to catch a person in a vulnerable position with a photograph.
For the project to be a reality, a plugin will be created for smart phones. This plugin or app will capture a front facing photo when the phone is unlocked. The photos will be taken randomly 1 out of 5 times the phone is unlocked. The photos will be sent to the application where they will be grouped and stored with appropriate metadata. This app will be linked with your social media, and every time a new snapshot is taken, it will be set to your profile pictures, changing multiple times per day.
This app aims to change the way that people feel they need to present themselves on social media, adding a goofy and personable charm to ones profile.
To budget this app, the labor involved would total to around 300$. There is no external hardware so the whole budget would Cost 300$.

this is an intriguing idea. can you think of a way to make this “safe”? this could be a “meme” or a social media culture thing; but without safety, why would anyone use it? or maybe it’s a game that certain friends can play with each other? so you have to be invited to share these…?
