EcoArt Intent – Andrew K

My idea is to create a website that features multiple images of places around the world which show the damage caused by pollution to those areas over time.

This would benefit many people throughout the world, with a focus on locally in Maine. The reason for this is that it would allow people to visually see how pollution has affected the environment. For most people I find that hearing about something is not nearly effective as visually seeing a drastic difference. This is important because many places throughout the world are only now starting to see drastic changes in the environment due to pollution. Here in Maine some of that is happening, but not nearly as significantly. So the idea is people will see how bad it can get, and where Maine is in comparison to the world, and want to do something about it.

The website would have two sections, local, and global. Local would focus on the pollution which has occurred locally (the state of Maine) over time. Such things as the river pollution caused by the mills, and other factories. The other section Global would focus on areas in the world where there has been major changes to the environment due to heavy pollution. One such example would be the changes to Beijing, China over time.

(Beijing before and after smog)

Budget:

Website: $0 (Free WordPress Site)

Time and Labor: $400 (20 hours roughly)

Total: $400
