Autobotography Intent 2B—EricW

Summary:

My thought behind this is to make a digital mirror for someone to look back at themselves so that over a period of time. This digital mirror would be there not only for the person to see anything good but to also see if there was anything bad they didn’t like to see in themselves. This project is a timeline video through a plugin will take a picture of you once in the morning and once at night at the same time for a set amount of time. After that time is up the photos will be compiled into a video so you can see how you looked on any given day.

Concept:

For this project, I will be developing a plugin for a computer where a there will be a set time each day over a set period of time where a photo will be taken via your webcam on your laptop or desktop. At the end of the cycle of time that the user determines a video will be compiled with all the photos where you can scrub through that video to a certain day or and see how you have changed or looked different in the past. This will benefit people looking to see how they have changed through their looks or their attitude on their facial expression. I see this project more of a way for a person to have an easy way to look back in time and see how their mood changes in the morning compared to night. I feel this is important because this gives a person a visual cue of how they look either in the morning and they can determine at that time if they like the person they see in the video.  This option will be something that a person could post the video on social media to show their friends how much they have changed. This would be more for self-reflection where I feel sometimes people get caught up with their time. Now, this could be a way for people to stop and take a look back at themselves.

Budget:

The cost for his project will be very low monetary wise. The plugin will be developed in Automator and the event will be triggered in the calendar app within the MacBook. The only cost would be of time setting the workflow for the app. Also, setting the time frame for the calendar app to take the pictures and have it repeat over some time.
