Approach 1 – AndrewW
- Background: The University of Maine Campus is Infamous for their terrible parking availability. As such a hacktivism project that illustrates the need for more student parking I feel would be a very effective project and would catch a lot of attention.
- Explanation: The idea for my project would be to replace the parking signs for one or many parking spots (depending on funding) during the middle of the night. I would pull up the signs and replace them with an off colored sign [purple]. This color would make the lot unavailable to all parked there unless they had a purple parking pass. I would leave made passes under the windshield wipers of random cars on campus. The hope with this project would be to create some discussion among parking services and the student body about how reserved lots that are hardly used are a massive waste of space.
- Credits: I got this idea from the military operation known as a ‘false flag operation’.
- Simple Budget:
Cost per purple sign: $ 200 for metal and paint
Cost for parking passes X$20= $5 [if laminated maybe $10]
4 hours to mark out all pot holes that should be filled across campus.
