Approach 1-ColeT

This is website dedicated to making people aware of cyberbullying and the steps they can take to stop it. It will provide a few tips with how to avoid being bullied on the internet. It’s also a blog where people can tell their own stories of cyberbullying. Knowing people’s stories will make people more inclined to be careful on the internet and know that it can be used against you in different ways. Cyberbullying happens more often the regular bullying because the person doing it doesn’t have to physically be near you to accomplish it and can bully by just send you messages and other harmful things on your phone or any other mobile device.

Cyberbullying awareness.com should be able to stand on it’s own because it offers people the chance to help those that haven’t experienced cyberbullying like they have. They will be informed on how drastic the effect of cyberbullying can be and how it changed their lives. They can write blogs and also watch videos about cyberbullying or interviews of people who experienced and what their lives are like after. This will get people more involved in putting an end to it because the more they see and hear the more they want to be apart of it. The number of people who blog and view the website will invite more people to do the same because they will be drawn to the new trend like the other types of social media on the internet.

My inspiration for this idea came from the issues that were discussed in lab and the ones we had to brainstorm ourselves. I thought more about what issues that aren’t touched on as much as the ones we usually hear about. I thought cyberbullying could have more exposure to the world and how people could avoid it happening to them. The budget for this project would be little because the website itself wouldn’t cost as much to make with because I can use WordPress to create a site for free and upgrade it to a premium membership for just $8.25 to use the other media I would need for the site. Also I would need film equipment for the interviews of people who have experienced cyberbullying  which I could reserve at the IMRC. With these components the website can function the way it supposed to.
