Approach 1 – EthanC

This project is an extension for Google Chrome and other web browsers that briefs the user, once per day on the first start-up of their browser, on important current events and how their representatives have been representing them. It also allows for the organizing of events with other users of the application.

I’d like for this to exist because following the news, especially lately, is exhausting. Combing through various websites to find out what is really happening can take a long time, and finding out how your representatives have been voting takes even longer. This extension would alleviate that, providing you with up to date facts and news every day in an unobtrusive way, without having to exhaust yourself.

One of the pieces of feedback I got, I believe from Matt B. as well as possibly others, was that the extension would be a great way to cover current events and news as well as information on your reps, so I’ve made that a larger aspect of the extension, with current events and news appearing on the initial splash page.

The extension would use the this tracking api (https://www.govtrack.us/developers/api) to gather data. With that service being free, there would be little to no cost in the development of the extension, just my own time.
