Title:Rebranding Large Corporations
Summary:Most large corporations do not care about the customers, so the purpose of the this hackivisim project is to reveal some ways that these corporations treat their customers.
Mockups:These are some mock ups of how I will rebrand simple iconic logos so that they will show the message that they are rotten or trying to hurt their customers.
Background:The main idea is for the casual customers that does not buy phones every year to understand what’s been happening to their phone, and for them to understand and prevent that from happening. There has been many articles written on various websites, like NYtimes, and CNNtech about this issue, and various customers have talked about experiencing this issue too. Apple has admitted to the slow down of iPhone 6 to iPhone 7, to prolong the life of those phones.
Explanation: This is important for all consumers that has purchased phones, and various other products. Since many people just use their phones, and update it if there is a new update out, they don’t know if this update will slow them down instead of helping them. With this project, the iPhone user base will hopefully understand that their phones are being slowed down, and are being forced to buy new products.
How to spread the message: This project is to get this message out there, to spread these simple logos around, they can made made into stickers and be plastered over the laptops that we all use so that whenever we bring out our laptops, we see the new message that is being spread. Below the logos can be a simple hashtag that’s being used on social media sites so that it can be be easily looked up, once the sticker catchers your eye in a public place, or a link to a website that presents all the necessary information.
Tech Culture: People that use technology always want to think that the products that they are using are better than what other people use. The ongoing competition between android products and apple products can also help this promotional campaign, most android users thinks that their products are better then iPhones, so as a side product of this competition, it can be used as fuel for this campaign. This competitiveness can be used to show the other side of the competition that there can be ways to improve each other, rather then just bad talking each other. The android user base can show the apple user base the truth about their products in the campaign.
How to gather people: Using a simple hashtag that will gather people that want to learn more about this and new updates on the ongoing situation, they can use the hashtag #badapple, on various social media sites, and that will generate a gathering of similar minded people that sees this message whether in real life on this stickers, or through other means.
Inspirations: Inspirations for this project are The Yesmen, and how they have tried to show how large corporations do not care about their customers, or the aftermaths of the incidents that they have made.
Budget:
- Photoshop: (about $20 a month. ) Should take up to a week to come up with the concept, and revising the idea.
- promotions: This is a slow moving campaign that will catch more and more people as time goes on, as people sees the logos in real life, which will also promote the hashtag online, as the logos gain more popularity. It creates a dual promotion, in real life, and in social medias.
To print the stickers would take about $10 for a batch of printing.
