Approach 1 – LiwenC
Background: Planned obsolescence is a big problem, with how tech is being integrated into people’s lives now, planned obsolescence is no longer acceptable. It was brought up again just recently with the release of the iPhone X, how Apple has been making their phones so that they would get slower as new products get released. It has been recently reported on a Forbes articles that they have been even been sued for planned obsolescence.
Tech Culture: Society is growing more and more reliant on technology, and as technology advance more and more in the future, there will be new and better products that will come out everyday. Even if some people out there can afford to pay for the ever changing product. There are people out there that can not do that. So for the people that need to use the same product for many years to come, it is integral for products that are released now to be usable for many years in the future.
How to Gather People: Social media is a really useful tool when it comes to gathering people with the same idea into the same place. So that in mind, I have made a Instagram page that will be updated as more information comes out, more artworks, as they will be generated by people that sees this hashtag.
Inspirations: Inspirations for this project are The Yesmen, and how they have tried to show how large corporations do not care about their customers, or the aftermaths of the incidents that they have made.
Budget:
- Photoshop: (about $20 a month. ) Should take up to a week to come up with the concept, and revising the idea.
- promotions: This is a slow moving campaign that will catch more and more people as time goes on, as people see the logo it will promote the hashtag online, as the logos gain more popularity.
