Title: Unbore Me

Abstract:

A look into how different technologies affect my everyday life. Give me things different things to use or take them away to see what happens.

Description:

A game of sorts that’s a simulation of how I interact with different technologies (phone, computer, sketchbook, etc.) when given the opportunity. The game would give people the opportunity to give me different objects, or different combinations of objects to see how different technologies affect me. There would be many different possibilities for combinations of technologies, such as both a phone and a sketchpad, or a phone and a laptop, or a TV and a game station, and they would all show how they interact with each other to help me do different things.

For aesthetics and actual content everything would be made by me drawing it. There would be a cute, simple style and simple animations for each different object and interaction that I could do with those objects. As for how it would work technologically I can think of one kind of simple way to go about it. I could get a web address that allows me to make my own pages from scratch and embed the pictures and GIF animations onto it. There would be buttons to press to give me items or take them away and the buttons would just redirect to another page on the website with the correct animation to go with it. Another option would be making an actual game in a code editor and embedding it on a one-page website, or making it embeddable on other websites, like my social media accounts. Making an actual game would be a lot more time consuming and difficult though.

Explanation:

This project would be a look into how technology affects me, specifically. It would hopefully help people see how technology has and continues to help me every day. It would also show what taking away specific technologies, like my laptop, affects my day-to-day life and limits me in some ways. The aim is to show how important things like a computer and internet connection have become to me, whether for better or for worse. This project is also inspired by real computer issue that I’ve been having and my realization how much that my computer not working properly really affects me.
