Approach 2 – IsaacS

Autobiography Approach

Synopsis:

Over the past years in school I have found myself lacking the ability to create works that I am interested in. Some of the work I have created has not been within the interest that I have. I also have found myself lacking the time to pursue ideas that captivate me. This combined with the limited free time has led me to feel as if I haven’t been creative for my personal artistic pursuit in awhile. This is in part due to my inherent need/unknowing result of boredom resulting in procrastination. Ideally, I would be able to complete all of my school work and have time to pursue ideas that would help me develop creatively and expand my portfolio and artistic abilities. As as result, I intend to create 3 pieces of work per month that reflect my desire to create, and my desire to pursue certain concepts outside of pieces specified for New Media. Ideally, I would like each piece to use a different medium in its creation.

Title: “Redirecting My Procrastination”

The aim of this is to not only boost my personal portfolio, but also to keep practicing and creating in order to widen my expertise. I wish to maintain my ability to create work that is relevant and new, and this is a way to organize and motivate myself.

Budget: At most, $100 to cover material costs.

1st Piece of Work (to be revised later): A short late night DJ mix I put together (don’t mind the mistakes, it was truly a late night)       http://isaacsanterre.nmdprojects.net/NMD_206/Mix_One.wav

1st Piece Extended: I also have music I have made that is not completed yet: Here is a taste:  (Pardon the lyrical inferences, I just used it for the sample)

Other Example Work: I created this short preview an advertisement for a longer film: https://youtu.be/MPtpJrBvtHI

  • I think we can all get on board with you regarding the overflowing workload we seem to constantly trying to catch up on in school. Especially in new media, when there are dozens of small assignments that are pulling at you from every direction. Ive found myself saying this on many occasions, that I’m not creating content that I’m truly passionate about. The struggle is that while some assignments may be intriguing, usually the time spent on the assignment, or the time given to complete it is just not enough- to be satisfied with the final product. Part of my frustration is that while we are being introduced to so much new information and tools, I wish there was more of an emphasis or direct focus that students can follow- instead of stretching us thin with tiny assignments. But- procrastination and the drive to innovate and create don’t go hand in hand – so lets be vigilant in our creativity. …. cool
