Every Friday I volunteer at a local middle school with the music department to help teach kids how to play their instruments. The music department at this middle school is located in lower-middle class town where some parents can’t even afford to send their kids to school with a decent lunch. Working with these kids it is clear that a lot of them have a passion for music and only want to continue their growth. Because of the average income of the town they live in, most of them cannot afford to have private music lessons outside of school. (which can sometimes range upwards of $50 per hour). This website allows kids free online access to music lessons and songs from open source content.
As you navigate through the site linked at the bottom of this page, there are many options. You’ll notice online lesson booking, programs and also a page of faculty members who work hard to bring fun and interesting lessons to the students for free
This idea was inspired in part by the popular music domain, spotify. Spotify is a sight that allows people to listen to music by hundreds of popular artist for free. My idea is similar in that classically trained artist would be sourced out to help build content on this site.
The only estimated cost would be maintaining the website, which is linked below.
