Virtual Forest Art installation
Visuals/Sketches:
Background:
This specific project would be a one-to-many installation where I am creating a living and breathing atmosphere that would be projected onto a public space, ideally, the IMRC. I want to focus on portraying a natural space on an artificial/built environment to reflect the concept of artificial environments consuming our natural environment.
Why is this important?
Above all else, I wanted to emphasize on the living-and-breathing aspect of a forest. I think to an extent, many of us do not genuinely consider our living space as a living being, even though it is most definitely alive. With this art installation, the audience could possibly be influenced to take a second look at the world we live in today and realize that we are living in an environment that is slowly dying because of the actions that we are making at our own convenience.
Audience:
My target audience for this specific art project will be for college students coming through the public space that will hold this instillation. In many ways, we, as busy students with things to do and places to be, don’t fully grasp the level of destruction we have to the natural world around us. With this in mind, the ultimate purpose of this installation is to be a small reminder to students that our world is a living, breathing being and it truly is our responsibility to be more conscious of our actions.
Tools needed to build the installation:
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe After Effects
- MapMap software
- 6k Projector – Rented from IMRC
- Personal computer
Cost for Building the Installation – ~$300-600
