I created a video/animation the portrays an abusive relationship as a reflection on our abuse to the environment and the effects that we have on it.

The people arguing are silhouetted so as to make the message more global and between them is a flower on a window sill. Initially it is vibrant and “happy,” however as the (more so emotional and verbal) abuse between the couple thickens, the flower starts to wilt and die and the sky darkens. The verbal abuse phrases are phrases that I researched and are commonly used within abusive relationships. I also had some of the other voice actors come up with some of their own phrases. The positive non-abusive phrases were taken from people in healthy relationships as well as the voice actors’ own ideas.  While it’s not directly stated and illustrated, the ways in which we abuse our environment, I think it offers a more relatable way to show the decomposition in an abusive relationship and how that correlates to the environment.

It’s also important to note that the abuse will becoming from both sides in that women are not the only victims of abuse. The silhouettes alternate position as the two separate scenarios play and the phrases are collaged for the audio. With some scenes cutting to the flower and the individual silhouettes. Once the relationship improves and the abuse goes away, the flower grows back and the sky lights back up as well as the clouds in the sky.

Overall, the budget would be about 23hours worth of work and at 10$ an hour that would be 230$.
