Hacktavism Intent – JasonD
The Mews is all about delivering thought provoking content while appealing to the cat adoring internet. The daily Mews takes top stories and uses advanced 3D rendering to produce cats speaking the news. The cats could be in any role, and or location, doing any number of adorable activities while delivering sobering and terrible news.
This project combines cats, a popular entertainment subject on the internet with relevant news and current events in a number of CATagories. Another feature will be the endless scrolling reel. It takes all past news videos and also mixes in youtube videos of cats to keep it fresh and lively.
The final section will include what is called the “Two-foot Propaganda” in which real news sites are fed into a scrollable screen. The RSS feeder would pick the most recent video news. This would be for readers to consult ‘legitimate news sources” to cross check the news.
News articles can be narrated by anyone, and their sound bytes would be used to animate mouths on the cats while they perform entertaining stunts. It is hoped that the user would be so entranced by the visual stimulation that they will stay on the site for a long period of time. The news videos are meant to be educational as well as provide background information behind the articles. This allows the users to be more informed and have a better understanding as to why the events are happening. The cats are merely a hook to keep the user’s attention just long enough to provide the information.
