Hacktivism intent – JakeB
Hacktivism intent: All-hands
Problem: People don’t know how to help. “All-hands” helps people help other people.
Idea:
People are happiest when they are helping other people. My idea is to create an interface, likely a mobile app or website, that makes it easier for people to help each other. Often times, people want to help or need help but don’t know where to look. For example, a filmmaker might need to build a set for a movie but they don’t know any carpenters nearby to help. Or maybe a fashion designer wants to promote a new dress, but they don’t know anyone with any media experience. The entire experience will be based on individuals helping individuals instead of businesses helping businesses. All-hands would allow people to create profiles based on what skills they have, and what skills they require to complete a project. It will then connect people based on location and mutual skills/requirements. It will also have a short evaluation upon making an account that helps users figure out and categories what their skills and needs are.
This is important because it encourages interpersonal interaction through many-many interaction. All-hands encourages people to be kind to each other, and that can never be bad.
This product is designed to encourage people to interact with and help people near them. It’s not aimed at promoting a business or even be a tool for business owners. It’s made for communities, for people that don’t want to pay a company for a simple job.
Cost:
About $50 for hosting the app, everything else can be done for free. It would be free to download and make an account.

Cool to see our tech reinforcing our evolutionary design rather than impeding it….
The idea is appealing but very broad…It might help to begin with some specific location, type of help, some way to help it launch.
And it’s interesting to see us use resources to create an APP (iPhones, servers, coders etc0 to do what people used to do naturally at church suppers and baseball games….
That being said, it’s an intriguing idea, and likely to appeal to many people.
It’s interesting that so many apps work the basis of gift economies.
One App that work on similar principles is : https://mainetime.timebanks.org
You might consider making your own version which is different; OR finding a way to assist with the current APP?
Logo is appealing but could use refinement. Simple is good. And the APP interface would need to be more precise and also mirror the functionality of the APP. Finally clarify with NMD strategies you would use.
