World Without Gender Roles
- what is your concept/idea
The App would give ideas/ suggestions to raising your child in am environment that includes not only Female but Male aspects to be incorporated into their lives. It would also be a place that people could have chat room to perhaps talk to each other to find out what worked and what didn’t , and to also provide other options and ideas. It could also be a place for people to meet up who feel the same way they do . But also to perhaps start projects of their own in the community that could have the society become more accepting of sexes. The App would allow people to be hidden if they so chose to be. What would keep people coming back is that people would incorporate these ideals into their lives and then post this on the app to show that they are living it. This app would sort of follow the same guidelines as the app about a world with no oil. I want people to feel connected to the app and to each other.By having multiple people interacting and sharing their ideas and their own life examples about how they would live in a world without Sex Roles this would be a great Example of Crowd Sourcing . The target audience would be pretty much everyone however I feel like that people who are on the LGBTQ . ect spectrum, that it would hit home order for them to want to be active in this community .
- why this is important and for whom?
This would be important to mostly LGBTQ people but i feel like Feminists would also rally behind it, Along with LGBTQ . ect allies. The reason being is because these groups are constantly attacked by the public weather its verbally, Physically or through publicity. People want to stand up for what they believe in and they are more likely to do so when others are their to join them which is the idea by hind this app is t bring people and ideas together.
- what New Media/hacktivism strategies will you use and why?
I would be using Crowd Sourcing i want people to feed each other ideas and to inspire each other to make a change in the way they live and in the way that they influence others to live. People will be incorporating videos and picture in real life to express how they are living this Life Style to promote Gender Equality.
- Who is the audience and how do you hope it will influence them
This would be targeting the younger generations are the really old ones at the same time, it is the new generations that will shape our future and it is the old generations the are raising the new generations. so in order to promote change we need to target both age groups at the same time to have an effective outcome.
- List time to actually make/create project
To create such a app would probably take 4 Months if we want something Solid that we can easily adapt to adjust for future issues or additions.The time requirement really depends on on my available time sense i have full time classes/ a job and im in 3 different Clubs.
- list materials with cost
I can make the app my self with literally no cost, that being said as the app develops we might want to host our own server, and to create regular backups up all the information on the App. We would put the App up for free and we would make money off Adds that people would need to watch in order to even submit a post. We would also give people the option to donate, and if enough money is raised the app will then be Add free.

-data server-to hold all the data in backups
-moderators-to make sure no one is abusing the application
-programers to update info- people to update and upgrade the app depending on the needs of our consumers .

This is an interesting idea for a safe community space for open gender roles. But I am a bit confused by your wording, as you mention “App would give ideas/ suggestions to raising your child in am environment that includes not only Female but Male aspects to be incorporated into their lives and also “live in a world without Sex Roles” It seems you do mean to use sex roles, and your top two images are sex roles, but that you want the App to be a resource for people being more open about which roles they choose. Is that right?
Or do you want to challenge the roles as they exist? i.e. men are physically strong; women are emotional….ie if strength were NOT a male gender role, then anyone could be strong, or put another way, a person who is strong is not necessarily masculine or male.
I like the idea of an APP creating community around open sex roles, but I’m not yet sure how it would work, either technically or socially.
Your current visuals don’t help me much in understanding the APPS functions. As someone who has bent roles most of my life, I’m not sure how I would use it. (could it give me advice when the US govt thought I was male and wanted to arrest me for draft-dodging?; or help my male track coach let me run track with the boys track team? or use my newborn while teaching a class at NYU? ) Maybe if I could find very short anecdotes of others who had been through similar situations and how they prevailed, that would have helped me.
If you do crowdsource, how do you attract the initial members of your community? How do you launch this? Whoo will actually contribute? It seems easy to do this, but in fact, it takes very careful planning to make it work.
I’d like to see you develop a clearer goal, more precise APP functions (and how these would support your goals), and a clearer supporting community and how they would be linked.

what media is the intent/project? 1-1, 1-many, many-many? explain
This intent seems like a many-to-many? I am not entirely sure, but it seems like the users would influence each other and subsequently the users’ children.
does the idea enlist any of the New Media Strategies? If so which & how?
Yes, this project uses crowd sourcing. This is because this is an app that seems at though it would be almost entirely user run.
what major issue(s) does the project engage?
The project engages the issues of being raised to follow traditional gender roles, instead of just being raised as a person.
does the concept interest you?
I think the concept does interest me, but I feel like the only users will be people that already do not believe in gender roles. How will this spread the movement? What would this really change?
Design
is the design clear and appropriate?
I think the design is pretty clear. The quick mockups helps me to visualize this better.
does the design invite attention and/or participation?
Yes, this seems as though it would be almost an entirely user-run app that only works if people participate.
Technical
what tech is used? is it appropriate?
The technology is the user’s phone. Smart phones are so widespread that they seem as though they are the best and easiest way to reach, connect, and influence and audience.
what is the cost? is it affordable for most people? the planet? is it sustainable?
The cost for the user is nothing; that is affordable.
Audience
who is the intended audience?
The intended audience is the parents of the current rising generation. However, as stated above, I feel like only those parents that already hold those ideas would use the app. How would it draw in a broader audience and really make a difference?
how is the project geared to the audience?
The project is geared to a very specific audience, and that is exactly how it caters to them. It is an app for them to connect and share their values and ideas.
would the project appeal to or challenge the audience? how/why?
This would appeal to the audience because it is an app made specifically for them. It would challenge the audience if it was advertised as an app that made no mention of throwing out traditional gender roles.
Creativity
does the idea stem from some personal passion of the creator?
Yes, the author does seem to be passionate about this issue. But I have no idea about the person in real life, so I cannot say for sure.
can you detect the mark of a particular sensibility?
Yes, the author is clearly passionate about this subject.
