Intent 2 – StellaL

In the world of Google

Inspired by “Samsung Means to Die,” my project would be to create an animation showing the influence of Google throughout the Silicon Valley, specifically the city of Mountain View. This animating would depict things experienced during my childhood of ways that Google took over bits of other’s lives as well as mine.

These things would include the buying out of my elementary school, seeing Google bikes around in middle school and the robotics tournament held at Google. It would include Google coming to my high school and giving out freebies to entice students to be future employees. It would also include that when we moved to a new apartment complex down the street in high school the majority of our neighbors were Google employees. Fast forward to today and due to the tech boom. People can’t afford housing as the demand for it has risen along with the prices and so some are living out of RVs, watching self driving cars go by along with Google Maps vehicles. You can’t really get away. Despite the fact that it’s not as strong of a technological implementation as Samsung in Korea, without the implementation of their proposed dome-city, I think it’s powerful enough to present as the wonders of Google (among other tech companies, though this project is focused on Google) has a dark side.

The time cost would probably be about 30 – 40+ hours to draw out and animate the video.
