NicholeO_EcoArt Approach
A new and easy way to get the garden you love, that’s just right for you.
Rollin in Dirt is an easier way to create a garden of various patterns, sizes, and plant types to fit your lifestyle. Some people would love to have a nice flower bed in their front yard, or even a cute little box within their home or apartment. However, not everyone is a gardening expert, or have the time to get down in the dirt to plant flowers. Rollin in Dirt is as simple as rolling out pre grown grass roles, and can be customized to show an array of patterns after the growing process. All the buyer has to do is choose the size and dimensions of the role, what plants they wants, and the pattern. They can be as vast as a front yard, or even just a single plant pot. The idea is for the user to pick out what plants work best for them, so they the plants can thrive, and the grower can have the satisfaction of not killing their plants for not knowing how to care for them.
The process of choosing the patterns and flowers will happen on the website, and be shipped to the users home. On the website, the users will also be given tips of how to care for their plants, as well as knowledge about the plants before hand, such as the preferred temp, amount of water needed, and sunlight. The buyer should be well educated about the plants they want to get, to fit their lifestyle and skill level with plants. This process is meant to be as easy as possible. Not all plants can coexist perfectly together, so the site will suggest the best groups of plants to grow together. It will also rate the plants on ho difficult they are to maintain, along with basic information on each plant. There will be patterns and templates to choose from. The rolls will have the seeds already placed within the sod, so that the buyer just has to role them out and water them (with the additional tending depending on the plants). The kits will include all the information needed on the plants the buyer bought, as a guide and reminder on how to care for their plants. The end goal of the idea is to bring plants back into all homes, in a safe, and artistic way.
Budget:
Rolls for seed starters: $20 (for 18ftx39in)
Seeds: $5 per (5 seeds, plant depending)
Website development: 10 solid hours just to create, plus costs of a server, and expenses to hired help
Labor: 4x4ft square, estimate 2 hours? (would vary on size of role)
Shipping $$ (trying to keep local)
Thanks to Jason D who originally helped inspire this idea. And thanks to James who gave me a great amount of questions to consider.
