I found the first reading to be pretty interesting. At first i couldn’t comprehend the difference between media, medium, and new media and as i kept reading it compared each one to something more relatable. For example media was equivalent to land, medium was water, and new media was the sky. This representation put things into a better perspective for me. Now i can think of the land as someone going door to door to talk to one person at a time, being the one-to-one. And the water as a boat being able to go to an approximate location representing one-to-many. And the sky being many-to-many because a plane can travel almost anywhere. Its an interesting way to comprehend the info but it worked.

After discussing the yes man group i was intrigued to do some research on how that court case ended and i found that they waited 4 years just to get a court date and when they finally got one the chamber of commerce called it off and decided that they didn’t want to go to court anymore. They state that they just wanted to intimidate the yes man group and although it worked the group wasn’t excited to learn that the court case against them wasn’t going to go through. They were happy to take the chamber of commerce to court because that would have allowed them to do some deeper digging on the government establishment. They wanted the chance to find out all their dirty little secrets and the chamber of commerce caught on to that and cancelled the court trial so that the group didn’t have an excuse to dig through government secrets. It was pretty interesting to read about.

I bring up the topic of the yes man group because when asking myself the question, “what is new media” its interesting to think about the idea of hacking being such an important topic in new media. Hacking is a great example of the many-to-many expression because like the yes man group it was many people reaching out to communicate with many other people.
