I am incredibly blown away by the rate at which technology is being developed and the slowly decreasing life of our technology. More than ever our tech is being designed to work faster, look more advanced and become obsolete in less than one year. There is almost no way to keep up with the surge and development of new technology. It is almost depressing seeing how some technology New Media students are learning will be irrelevant and outdated potentially before even graduation. Yet, the foundation for understanding how technology develops and grows will remain.
Most interestingly, seeing how people, specifically hackers are really at the forefront of development, for they often see problems before they arise. This ability to direct complex and massive amounts of information is astounding, something I wish I had a better grasp on overall. This was particularly revenant when looking at the origin of big companies such as Apple, which started from the ideas of hackers and their involvement in understanding the capabilities of a computer. Without people passionate about learning and willing to take the risk of failure, the developed world would have never existed in the way that it does today.
