During lab today me and my group had a very abstract thought process that went around in many different directions but eventually we thought of the struggle that artists have when they get no constructive criticism on their art work so we thought of the solution of creating the CCC. Confidential Critique Café.

It would consist of a sign up sheet of days and times where people can pick a slot that works for them to show other people at the café their art work and receive some positive feedback. We thought this was such a great solution because first it can bring a community of artists together and second because some artists need help improving their overall ideas. I know i need help sometimes so of course there are other people that feel the same way.

Our complex thought process started with Alyssa commenting on how she hates random people following her on instagram so we tried to think of a way to improve the privacy settings and we brainstormed on that for a while until we decided it wasn’t going to work. Then Alyssa mentioned how her laptop never wants to work correctly and at the time i was scrolling through the beautiful trouble website and came across the repair café solution and i explained that to my group and eventually Austin came up with the idea of instead of a café where you can fix broken things why not have a café to help people improve art ideas. We all immediately loved the idea and started to think more complexly about the idea and we came up with the criteria of a critique station for artists that need motivation and support.

We did run into a few problems with this idea, for example we thought of copyright possibly being a problem and we thought maybe people could sign a terms and conditions contract when they sign up to be a part of the critique community. Overall we were thinking in terms of what would we want as artists and we came up with this pretty cool solution to the problem of artists not having the correct criticism or any criticism at all. Artists are people that enjoy targeting a target audience and receiving advice on how something can be improved. My group felt as though this could be a healthy solution for artists to gain confidence and motivation in what they do.
