Response 2—LucasA

The issue I chose to approach involves voter awareness and social political  movements, and getting more people who are currently desensitized to become involved easily without knowing/going out of their way.

The first implementation of this is through a game or mobile application which is both ‘fun’ and provides the user with reasons to continue playing, such as strides/day streaks. In the form of a game this application has little to no direct influence on awareness or changing active movements, but more focuses on subliminal ideas and virtual idea generation. Something as simple as reading/seeing a word/image repeatedly (possibly daily through strides and in-game rewards) can influence user thoughts and opinions. I think this would be a creative way to implement new social/political ideas without the user having to go out of their way.

My second implementation involves integrating news kiosks around campus in high density areas. By surrounding students who don’t actively watch the news or go out of their way to stay on top of current events with current news headlines it may encourage students to either walk up to the kiosks where possibly you can learn more or receive more information on your own device. Hopefully this would be an equally biased news source so it reaches the most number of students (which may or may not change based on campus demographics). Forcing users to just glance at news headlines or articles may catch their eye getting them involved in ways they weren’t before or maybe weren’t even aware of.
