In today’s society we portray ourselves online to be fraternity stars, party animals, young academics, jockeys, douchebags, and basic girls. With new technologies forming that constitute social media, a new layer of humanity was formed with social media empowering our society. But when people portray this picture about someone just off of social media, they have a sense of false identity with that person and actually have. no idea how they are as a person. On social media, we as humans don’t show everything that wants to be seen, sort of as a false identity. This new form hides our flaws, and shows that any kind of type of person can be portrayed differently from who they really are, because us humans are suppose to make mistakes it is how we grow but we don’t post failures on social media only success in our life. If we want to be seen as some particular person you are able to do so with the new form of social media. As stated before with the self that you want to be seen is reflected on the new social media platforms that portray that certain way.
Nobody Here Review:
Nobody Here was a very strange website, due to the fact that we spent a reasonable amount of time in class exploring the site that had many of us questioning the future of social media in a way. The website ranged from imagery that was very disturbing and hallucinogenic in a way, and then into cursive words, which were strange in a way, in my opinion I thought it was a way to make us no mimic the human society way and the social norms of what we are use to. The content of this website had me and my classmates question some things about it like the bugs that would move when we wrote something and we can see what other people wrote but we couldn’t see who it was exactly, then when looking at the animated death scenes….that is what had us thinking that we were either seeing things or they just wanted to creep us out with a weird social media platform. The focus for this website as I can see is for allowing the user to traverse it in any way that they see fit and gradually gift the many-to-many communication to the masses.
Life Sharing:
Another website that I found interesting was life sharing which is an autobiography project that creates a mirror on what it really means to be human, and this involves sharing our life events and all of our personal information with the public and with society. In reality, it is an uncomfortable situation, because people are then able to search through your possession and this allows artists to give up there personal life and hurts them emotionally. I believe if more people are concerned about there information they won’t go through with the website however someone who wants to socially be out there and build connections this is a good way to go about it, I personally would do it.
