Response 3-ColeT

The two projects that I picked were the MaybeCam  and Jennicam where both gave an example of a different self.  The MaybeCam was a small video camera that could be attached the persons clothes and they could be watched without being aware of it. It would give a view of what they do each day by giving people a first person view of it. They could see the people they interact with and the places they visited. It was a new way of monitoring people instead of the usual video camera that monitor people in stores and they could see clearly what actions they perform.

Jennicam was when this person named Jennifer Ringley had webcams put in her room and in different areas of home to record what she did in her life. It was a way for people to see her life and the kind of person she was through internet and she posted her live cast on a website for many people to see. After seeing theses two inventions I believe they have influenced the type of webcams that we have today and the way people choose to use them. It has given them the chance to show there true selves and what they want people to see them as. They also have given us more courage to show what we want on the internet and how to evolve our technology to be use in new ways.

Also the kind of society that has emerged from both technologies is society that has more of  a sense of freedom on the internet. It has given us more of a choice of what we choose to broadcast but also be more aware of the dangers that could come from it. Each person has the right to broadcast what they want but also to considered they kind person they want to be view as. Our society has evolved to a point where people don’t have meet each other to know what that person’s like and some of them can be just known from watching a web cam of them on a live video.
