Response 3—Eric W

The first project that I looked at was “Jennicam” this is a very open way to putting yourself out to the world. I see a lot of parallels to what Jenni was doing back then and what vlogging is in today’s world. I would also make the argument however that Jenni is even more open than what vlogging is doing today. With “Jennicam” she is always on there is no shutting out people from what she doesn’t want them to see. Where blogging you can edit out the parts that you want to still remain private. But with “Jennicam” it is opening herself up to the world at all times. This is very interesting because It is a look into the life of someone at any given time. It kinda put the phrase fly on the wall into reality. People enjoy this because Jenni is at least showing her natural self to them not a show or an act of any kind. That’s what people want to see and be entertained by. I would agree with the state that this was the precursor to reality tv. The new version of society in this project creates a need to look into people’s lives on a 24/7 basis.

For the second project that Looked at was the “Modern Living & Neurotica”. In this project, I thought it was very interesting because each gif or frame on this site I feel is a part of his life and how he wanted to change. Like when he has a tooth ace he took a pair of pliers to them. I think this is a very interesting way of telling someone about your life through animations. This gives the view and the creator a very honest way of looking at their life and the struggles they saw themselves going through. I feel this project doesn’t discriminate against race, gender, or even wealth. If we have access to these gifs you could show your life through these animations.
