While reading \u201cWhat is New Media\u201d Was very interesting right from the beginning of the article. I agree that people tend to get confused about what New Media really is. By reading this article I developed a better understanding of what media and medium really is. One of my favortie quotes in this article is when they started to speak about Mass Media, \u201cBroadcast and publishing executives mistake Mass Media as a catchall phrase for all possible media, as if no other medium can exist except as a Mass Medium.\u201d I thought this was interesting because I have always heard \u201cMass Media\u201d and I could see why people tend to have that phrases for all forms of media in general.<\/p>\n
In the middle of the article they start to go into more in depth of what the difference is between Media and Medium. Then they start to go into \u201cThe New Medium\u201d and I thought this part was very interesting. Just like new technology keeps coming out this has created a New Medium for communications.<\/p>\n
When reading the other article \u201cNew Media Strategies\u201d I kept thinking at all of these strategies started to make more sense. It was interesting to learn the perspective of Crosbies view about how people define New Media. His definition stated \u201cVin Crosbie argues that what most people think are communications media\u2013magazines, television, computers, the Internet\u2013are actually communications vehicles within a medium. He concludes that the defining characteristic of new media<\/i> is that they are many-to-many<\/b>.\u201d This makes the reader think outside of the box and realize that it is more about the social architecture. His view on Transportation Media was very interesting as well. By using transformation metaphors I believe he gets the point across very clear. Crosbie continues to use metaphors to speak about communications of media. By having these strategies broken down like this in a way that is easier to understand the true concept of New Media.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
